The basic goal of The Far Reach is to make it easier to discover what's happening around us and to create a centralized place where local events, businesses, artists, organizations, and communities can be found. The idea is simple: there is always more going on than most people realize, but the information is scattered across social media posts, flyers, websites, calendars, and word of mouth. The Far Reach exists to help bridge that gap.

This project still shares some DNA with platforms like Myspace, Bandcamp, community calendars, and local directories. Let's get that out in the open. I never set out to recreate any of them, but there are certainly ideas and qualities from those platforms that inspired parts of this project. The goal is not to replace them. The goal is to bring people, events, and communities together in one place that feels local, useful, and easy to navigate.

Whether you're a musician trying to get people to your next show, a small business hosting an event, a local organization planning a fundraiser, or simply someone looking for something to do this weekend, getting the word out can be surprisingly difficult. Social media algorithms come and go, trends change, and information gets buried. The Far Reach aims to provide a simple and straightforward way for people to discover what's happening nearby and for organizers to share what they're doing without having to fight for visibility.

As for myself, I don't have much to say. I've spent most of my life appreciating the people who create things, build communities, organize events, support local businesses, and bring people together. Every town has talented people, great ideas, and worthwhile events that deserve to be seen. I've always believed that communities are strongest when people know what's happening around them and have opportunities to participate.
